8/30/10: From Alan: All Previous Updates still visible below.

Well folks, it is a little over a week since Elliot had his horrible accident. He and his owner have gone through a lot in the past week. In that time Elliot suffered injuries, vet visits, hospital stays, surgery, and is on the road to recovery. Elliot's spirits are back up and he is doing swimmingly. We cannot begin to thank all those who donated enough for their help. Things would have been paid and taken care of by any means possible, but all of you donating, helping, supporting just made things so much easier to swallow. Easier for Emrys to undertake and keep focused on what needed/needs to be done. Without you I don't know how Emrys and Elliot would be feeling right now, but I know I'd be worried for my friends. Thank you feels far too simple here, I wish I had greater words for all of this.

The amount of money that came in eclipsed anything I had ever hoped it would. This started out as a small project for me focused toward our friends in the suspension/modification community. Just trying to give those friends a single place to send their love and donations if they wished to help out. It branched out into so much more, and honestly made me feel a bit better about the world in general. Which by anyway who knows me and the number of FTW tattoos I have, is an achievement in and of itself. So as I keep saying, and will continue to say, thank you!

The bills as of right now totaled up to a bit over $4700. The donations as of this morning had reached just over $4300. Thank you all!

I feel a slight need to plug here too. If you came here and wish to help out another worthy cause, go out and find one. They are all around us. One I know of is the Pearl S. Buck Foundation, a center for adoption and sponsorship of orphaned, handicapped, and poor Ameri-Asian children of the world.

Check back for future updates on Elliot as he recovers and lives. Thank you all!

8/22/10: From Alan:

For those who don't know, today(8/22/10) Elliot Nibbler Yetz had an accident in which he chewed on an electrical power cord. He broke his jaw, bit through is own lip, his lungs have fluid in and around them, but he is stable. He is concious and aware of himself. Responding to his Dad's love and attention, even looking to get his belly rubbed. The veterinary bills are already piling up for his Dad Emrys Yetz, and he has yet to go to surgery. If you've met this pup, he is as cute as can be, and loves the ladies. He was a huge hit at the recent ROP 2010 BBQ. So if you can, please help out and donate something to help Emrys and Elliot out.

Please help out by donating anything you can to help pay Elliot's Veterinary bills. Any little bit will help. Thank you all so much in advance!

THANK YOU!

8/22/10: Photos of Elliot at the Vet. He is in good spirits and in the second picture is actually rolling over to give Daddy kisses and get his belly rubbed.

8/23/2010 - 7:00am: From Emrys:

Please help if you can, my son Elliot had an accident today when I was at work, he chewed on a plug & got electrocuted. He broke his jaw, has edema (fluid in & around the lungs), small ulcer on his right eye and burns in his mouth. He's on antibiotics, lasix for the the edema, pain meds, oxygen & IV. I feel like the worst father in the world and am not one to ask for charity but really need help, his bills are going to total over $5,000. He's in good spirits trying to kiss my face & wanting belly rubs when I visit him, we head to the surgeon tomorrow morning, he's in emergency care currently. Anything you can give or do is appreciated, even just posting the photo & link would help. www.mandic4x4.com"

8/23/2010 - 11:00am: From Emrys:

Update- No surgery today. He's off oxygen though they are doing second set of x-rays to check his lungs for fluid. Surgeon will hold him overnight planning for surgery tomorrow if all goes well. It's looking like a few more days in vet care and a plate w/ screws with a large incision. Surgery was estimated at just unde...r $3000 so if you can donate please do. As the Surgeon updates me I'll post.

8/23/2010 - 12:30pm: From Alan:

One of my Matco Tools customers just donated $2. He is a wonderful old man with who told me, "We have a Pekingese, if I lost him I'd probably lose my wife." It almost brought a tear to my eye. Thank you Jack, and thanks to all who are donating!

8/23/2010 - 1:50pm: From Emrys:

Update- Second set of x-rays have been taken, Surgeon think he'll be fine to proceed with surgery in the morning, he ate a liquid based food, is on two types of pain meds and has taken to howling mostly likely because his so drugged up.

8/23/2010 - 3:30pm: From Emrys:

To everyone posting the link, donating, just all around being awesome thank you so much. This is one of the hardest things I've ever had to face in my life and you're all making it bearable.

8/24/2010 - 1:00am: From Emrys:

Hardest part isn't the bills, or the stress, its coming home to not having a cute little puppy face so excited to see his papa jumping all over me. Stay strong little man. Photos from the ride to the surgeon this morning

8/24/2010 - 10:25am: From Emrys:

Update- Elliot is currently under and surgery starts as soon as he's been shave & prepped, I won't be able to see him till much later in the day but the Surgeon will call after he's done to let me know how it went. Candles burning & lots of love for little man.

8/24/2010 - 1:40PM: From Emrys:

Update- Elliot is out of surgery, Surgeon said the break went back together perfectly and without issue. He has a plate with screws holding it in place that is permanent, they are slowly taking him off the anesthesia and will contact me later this evening with when I can visit him. He'll be held overnight pending no complication will ...be home Wednesday morning/afternoon.

8/24/2010 - 6:45pm: From Emrys:

Update- Spoke with a Surgeon's Technician, Elliot has come completely off anesthesia with no side effects, isn't fussing over his bandage, they intent to feed him (mushy food) shortly. As long as I give 30 minutes notice and they don't have any other emergencies to handle I'll be able to visit him tonight. I'll make sure to take lots of pictures and give him tons of kisses from everyone.

8/24/2010 - 7:30pm: From Emrys:

"Some of the people seeing the donation page for Elliot that Alan Mandic created are skeptic that its a scam, Below are just a few pages of the paperwork from the past few days. Let me make it clear that his bills to the Vets are paid but on...ly by maxing out my credit card and using all the extra cash I had. There are still many bills to come from when I pick him up, prescriptions, follow up visits, time off of work to be with him 24/7 etc. We appreciate every text, email, message, donation, posting of the link and heartfelt thoughts people are giving us through this hard time. Also please don't call the Vet they are annoyed enough by my calling all the time I don't want to upset them or take away from Elliot or any other pet's care."

So here are copies of the Veterinary bills/forms as some proof of what is going on here and donations are going toward:

8/25/2010 - 6:30am: From Emrys:

Update - When Caroline & I visited Elliot last night after his surgery he had a bit of a fever, I just called the Vet Office and its completely back to normal. This is a good sign his little body is healing and the surgery will be successful. Hopefully he can come home asap so he can be loved on and babied.

8/25/2010 - 10:00am: From Emrys:

Update- Surgeon's Office just called and Elliot gets to come home at 4:30pm today! They said he's eating food & pain meds without any issues just really swollen still.

From Alan:

Thank you so much for all the donations to this point. Really it is appreciated beyond imagination! Elliot is doing great so far and seems to be on the road to recovery. However the bills are not fully done coming in, and I hope people don't feel that since Elliot is on his way to being better donations are no longer needed. If you can find your way to donating a few dollars or sharing the link to this page, it is still greatly appreciated! Thank you again!

8/27/2010 - 5:00pm: From Alan:

I spoke to Emrys earlier today and got a bit of an update on Elliot. His swelling has gone down quite a bit and his memory seems to be fully intact. So that is a wonderful sign of no brain damage. He is drooling out of the damaged side of his mouth, maybe due to the burns, swelling, or maybe some nerve damage. Emrys said and I have to agree, if that is the worst thing that he is left with out of this, then no big deal at all! The abrasion on his eye has almost fully healed(at least from visual inspection). Emrys said the biggest thing now is just keeping an eye on him to make sure he doesn't do things he shouldn't. He isn't allowed to chew on anything right now, and as someone who knows Elliot he LOVES to chew. Chew toys and rope games are his favorite past times. So unfortunately he won't be getting that attention for a bit. Next week staples come out from the surgery, including ones in his neck where a breathing tube had to be inserted during surgery. There are multiple follow ups but the big one will be in 6 weeks. He will be getting more x-rays and check ups then. They need to make sure the plate on his jaw doesn't cause bone degredation. If it does it will need to be removed. If not it is a permanent fixture. I will get to see the little squishy monster in a few weeks when I visit Austin. I will keep the website updated with more info/pictures/video as I have them.

I cannot thank people enough for all the donations and kind words sent out through all of this. You folks really have done a great deal to help out. Elliot, Emrys, and I appreciate it greatly.

8/27/2010 - 5:45pm: From Emrys:

As you can all see the swelling is down 85%ish, he back to his normal self we're having to do more restricting than caring for at this point. Thank you all for the support it's been unbelievable and we're so thankful.

8/28/2010 - 7:03pm: From Alan:

Video Chatting with Elliot Nibbler :) He is doing wonderfully and a lot of it has to do with all of your help. Now it is just rest, recovery, and stopping him from trying to bite/chew on things. That last part is the constant battle, ha.

9/1/2010 - 12:31pm: From Emrys:

Update- Elliot saw the Surgeon today, staples removed, another weeks worth of antibiotics and Dr. V says eveything looks great. Next follow up Sept 29th for x-rays and hopefully all restrictions lifted.

9/29/2010 - 12:00PM: From Emrys:

Elliot Update- We just got home from Elliot's LAST trip to the Surgeon. X-rays show his jaw is more that 90% healed and should be back to 100% dry food in 2 weeks. The implant etc will remain in his face for the rest of his life. I can't thank everyone who's helped enough no matter how large or small your part thank you so much.

From Alan

I owe you folks more pictures and videos. I have them on my camera from my visit to Austin in the beginning of September and I will get them up shortly.
